Professional Continuing Education Coordinator

Position Description:

The Recovery Center Program Coordinator holds a program leadership position with primary responsibility for ensuring the effective day-to-day delivery of the RC?s services to current and prospective people who are affected by mental health, substance abuse, and trauma-connected experiences.? The Program Coordinator has specific oversight responsibility to ensure the growth of the program under his/her discretion.

Program Development:

????????? Develop a menu of Center activities and offerings with principles of hope, healing, wellness and opportunity with the creation and operation of an enriched calendar of activates for the Recovery Center

????????? Provide supervision to program staff of peer specialists and interns that will enhance the skills and knowledge base of facilitators in key programs and service areas

Direct Services:

????????? Serve as a point person via phone and email for engaging people who participate in the Recovery Center activities

????????? Provide individual coaching and advisement with people who participate with the Recovery Center who wish to seek the Program Coordinator?s mentorship

Program Management:

????????? Compile and provide various monthly reports to the Recovery Center?s Peer Advisory Board and MHAW

????????? Facilitate regular staff meetings of Peer Specialist staff and interns so that they are kept informed of best-practice in peer support services, community resources, program development and administrative issues

This position is reserved for an individual who has lived experience from having been given a psychiatric diagnosis, receiving or received services from the public or private mental health system, and has the ability to relate to and support others based on the peer-to-peer ?shared personal experience? paradigm.

???????? Qualified for and working toward their New York Peer Specialist Certification

???????? Minimum of three year?s experience in direct services working with people who have been given a psychiatric diagnosis and/or trauma survivorship

???????? High School diploma (or GED) is a must.? Bachelor?s degree in human service/health discipline and prior knowledge in program management is preferred.

???????? Must be a reliable self-starter who can work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team

???????? Must have excellent inter-personal communication skills, as well as excellent organization & communication skills

???????? Basic knowledge of the public health/behavioral health system including, but not limited to; mental health services, social service programs and public entitlements

???????? Must have strong computer skills, as electronic record is used.? Basic knowledge in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Social Media.

???????? Clean NY State Driver?s License as some driving with clients will be necessary

????????? Bi-lingual, English/Spanish is a plus

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
